Born to the late Joseph and Rose Meyers, John is also preceded in death by his siblings, Joey, Billy, Jimmy, Bobo, Mary Ann, Rosemary, and Frances; as well as his granddaughter, Chelsea Gayle.
Here to carry on his memory is his doting wife of 73 years, Mary Jo Meyers; their children, Christy (Jim), Cindy, Connie (Calvin), and John (Yvonne); his grandchildren, Andrea Rose, Jacob (Carolyn), Elliot (Samantha), Jimmy, Aaron (Veronica), and Ashton; his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kelsey, Finn, Ellie, Xolani, and Xyla; his siblings, Dorothy and Barbara; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
John enlisted in the Army at 17 and fought for our country at 20 in the Korean War. He married his Fort Knox USO Dance sweetheart Mary Jo in 1953, and was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
John enjoyed any spare time with his family, bowling and golfing, and also was a household jack of all trades.
After retiring from roofing, Mary Jo and John spent time traveling and RV-ing with friends, and he continued golfing into his eighties.
Always the entertainer, he sang a lot of Rat Pack Karaoke at American Legion log cabin 201 and also AL180,and in his last year hosted Karaoke at Vitality Assisted living with new friends. He cracked us all up with his slapstick humor, and loved old westerns.
Everyone who met and knew John in his 96 years, liked him, loved him, and remembers him as a good guy. He will be missed.
