John James Raiona

John was the beloved husband of 24 years to his wife, Stephanie. He is also survived by his mother, Jaqueline Root; his brother, Anthony Raiona; and his sister, Mary Anne Mushacke.

A man of many talents and passions, John was an accomplished writer whose work often focused on the bourbon industry and the Prohibition era. He was also a gifted cook, known for his ability to bring family and friends together around the table to enjoy the meals he lovingly prepared. In quieter moments, John enjoyed following the New York Yankees and sharing his quick wit with those fortunate enough to be in his company. Above all, he was deeply devoted to animals and their welfare, a cause that he championed with great passion.

John will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His memory will live on in every story shared, every meal made with love, and every animal he cared for.

A memorial visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40218.
