She was born September 21, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Hansford and Doris Mae (Phillips) Yates. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Greg Allen Curtis; and her twin sister, Laura Yates Nichols.
Karen had worked as the Disability and Insurance Manager with Baptist Medical Associates.
Survivors include one son, Steven “Russell” Curtis; one granddaughter, Alexis Curtis Vance (Liam); one grandson, Kaleb Scott Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Ayda and Omyra; two brothers, Hank Yates (Michelle) and Glenn Yates; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Nichols; and nieces and nephew, Anna Nichols, Leigh Ann Smith, and Alan Yates.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY 40204.
