My heartfelt condolences to Jerry, and the entire family.  May you know a peace beyond all understanding in our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Katie was such a wonderful person with big heart. I had the privilege to have her as my interpreter at Manual HS. She is free spirit kind of lady, full of wisdom words, advice and biggest hugs she would give! I remember she gave me a Bible verse (I couldn’t remember) on my yearbook and I’m lucky to have that as keepsake of hers. I remember when I was senior at Manual, I had an issue with teacher that tried tell Katie not to interpret for me, I went off and told the teacher not to speak to her like that, no one mess with my Katie Grandma!! I was furious and told Katie come on let’s go! I’m not leaving you here in this room  and left. She went behind me, said you go girl! I support you and hugged me! Never forgot about that. 
To the Family and Friends of Katie- I tremendously am sorry for your loss, this is big loss for everyone, and may God comfort you all in trying times. Katie will be sorely missed. Sending all of my love and prayers.

Katie and I worked together at Manual High School for many years.  We attended many workshops, trainings, and deaf events.  I vividly recall one time while we were attending the Summer Institute for Educational Interpreters at EKU where our natural curiosity got the better of us.  I had the bright idea to go exploring on campus and Katie was willing to be my sidekick. We went into one of the structures to see what it looked like inside, admiring the architecture, and nosing around the Rec room when I saw a really neat sunken courtyard through the basement windows.  I said "Katie, come on- let's go outside and see what they have  outdoors. " Katie said okay and out the door we went - taking in the flowers and foliage in the courtyard. When we turned around to go back inside the building - the door was locked! How are we going to get back in? We looked around and saw a garden gate, on the other side of the courtyard, at the top of the  outdoor stairs . So I said " Come on,  Katie,  we'll get out that way." We walked across the courtyard, climbed what felt like two- flights of concrete stairs and  lo and behold,  the one and only gate - was also locked! Now what were we going to do?!Keep in mind,  this was at a time when no one had cell phones nor did anyone in our group of interpreters/ friends know where we were!! While we were trying to figure out what to do, we heard some of our friends voices floating over the top of the enclosure and we began yelling" Help, we're trapped and can't get out" and they responded with "where are you?" It was like playing a game of  Marco/ Polo. Them yelling for us to keep yelling and us yelling back letting them know when they were moving closer or farther away from our location.  We were eventually found and set free. After that,  Katie and I vowed to never go anywhere without letting others know where we were going and to never walk out a door without first checking to see if it can be opened from both sides!

Jerry and family...Dave and I wish you ,condolences, love and peace at this sorrowful time.  So thankful we know Katie is in the best place ever but yet we are left with some sadness and a lot of great memories...fun together, reunions with our families,  sharing, loving, worshipping together...and of course rejoicing over the life and living of Kathy Jo!  Your family is forever part of our memory...
Dave just had open heart surgery this past Tuesday (and is recovering very well)  or else we would have been with you to celegrate Katie's life.

So very sorry to hear of her passing. Katie was always such a happy person. We love this family and have some precious memories of wonderful time  together working for the Lord at Christ Apostolic Church. Praying for the family.

Brother and Sister Morgan have been wonderful friends throughout the years. We Love them dearly, So sorry to hear of her passing, but happy that she crossed the last mile into eternity with the Lord. See you soon dear Sister.
