Keith DeForest Parrot of Louisville, Kentucky, was born November 5, 1972, in Newport Beach, California and died peacefully in his sleep on September 1, 2025. Keith and his parents relocated to Louisville two days after his birth.
As a young man, Keith was very involved with the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, days before his 18th birthday. Keith was a graduate of Atherton High School and Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he proudly represented Sid Richardson, his residential college. While at Rice, he studied abroad at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. Keith took advantage of this year abroad to explore the UK and much of the European continent. These opportunities inspired a lifelong love of travel. Keith and his wife, Becky, visited China, Tibet, Italy and Spain, and took numerous trips to the Caribbean Islands and the Bahamas during their twenty-three years of marriage.
Keith had a long career in Account, Sourcing, and Request for Proposals Management. He regularly participated in boardgames and enjoyed online videogaming and trial testing new games with a core group of close friends. Keith was known for his wit and ability to lighten any conversation with a joke or pun, and his vast memory and depth of knowledge came in handy during playful trivia contests or to add depth to any conversation. He often hosted his extended family for gatherings by preparing delicious outdoor meals as the “Grill Master” using his grandfather’s recipe, Leo’s Secret Sauce. He was an avid movie-goer who enjoyed watching Super-Hero, Action, Sci-Fi and Thriller blockbusters with Becky. Keith LOVED to read, frequenting the local public library for audio books and voraciously reading works of his favorite authors. He usually read several books simultaneously, and always remembered the storyline and page number where he left off for each book.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Becky Parrot; his parents, Ken and Leigh Parrot; his brother, Kevin Parrot (Teresa Valerio); three nieces, Savannah Parrot, Ashley Tran and Megan Baker; two nephews, Wesley Cheng and Alan Chan; four sisters-in-law, Quindelyn Cheng (Phillip), My Chan (Bieu), Nga Huynh (Co Tran), Ana Baker (Greg); one brother-in-law, Tim Huynh (Theresa) and many friends.
A service to celebrate Keith’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. Visitation will be held immediately before the service from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Library Foundation (301 York Street, Louisville, KY 40203) in support of the Louisville Free Public Library and in honor of Keith's love of reading.
