Wade, Lanney Ross, 76, passed away August 2, 2016. He was a man with a very strong work ethic. He was an entrepreneur, owning a coal company, Lanco Sales, from which he retired. He had a deep appreciation for nature. He demonstrated this at the early age of 19 when his professional career began at Kingsley Walker Nursery. He took pride in his work, which earned him numerous florist and BBB awards. He came out of retirement, which resulted in his passion for building and oversight of various construction projects to include Brownsboro Office Park, Brandeis Office Park, Middletown Nursing Home, and the Reserves at Polo Fields Patio Homes, just to name a few.
Lanney will always be remembered as a compassionate and loving person towards everyone, as he never met a stranger. He had a natural gift of encouragement and was intentional about putting a smile on the face of all that he encountered. He will also be remembered as a man of few words, but the epitome of strength.
Lanney loved spending time with his family and cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren most of all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Rose Wade; his foster parents, Charles and Cora Samuels; brother, Charles “June” Samuels; and sister, Beatrice David.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Rose L. Wade; children, Loretta Dorsey Young (Calvin), Kimberlee “Kim” Cato Dorsey, Stacey Ross Wade (Dawn); grandchildren, Ryan Dorsey, Shandi Dorsey, Joshua Cato, Khloe Wade and Carter Ross Wade; great-grandchildren, Chase Dorsey and Mackenzie Dorsey; sister, Jackie Wade-Pratt; cousin/sister, Peggy Kemp; 4 sisters; 6 brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 pm – 8 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
In celebration of Lanney’s giving and generous spirit, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of Lanney Wade.
