

Laquita Havens, 78, of Fairdale, passed away November 2, 2025. She was a retired bus driver for Jefferson County Public Schools. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, Louisville Writer's Club, and a former member of Valley View Church. She taught children's Sunday school and was a puppet director for many years. She was a published Christian writer, having written a lot of children's material and skits that were published. One of her fondest accomplishments is being in Love is a Verb by Gary Chapman.
Laquita was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Havens; daughter, Barbie Gonzales; and parents, James and Doris Green. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Taylor and Bonni Lincoln(Rodney); grandchildren, Ben Havens, Dr. Wade Taylor, Brandon Gonzales, Jake Taylor(Kristina), and Samantha Lincoln(Mark); great-grandchildren, Blake Havens, Caroline Taylor, Jack Taylor, and Henry Taylor; brother, James Green(Barbara); sister, Darlene Rafferty; and her nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10:30am-1pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Laquita's memory can be made to Cornerstone Community Church's Children's Ministry.
