Laverne M. Smith, 87, of Louisville passed away December 21, 2013 at Baptist Health Louisville. She was born on November 18, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Laverne was retired from the federal government and was a member of the American Legion.
She is survived by her children, Steve Smith (Linda) and Tanya Thomas Newton (David); grandchildren, Shannon Hunt (Wayne), Shelley Hatfield (Charles), Whitney Thomas, Sean Thomas and Sydney Thomas; and eight great-grandchildren, Colin Hatfield, Lacy Hatfield, Haley Hunt, Emily Hunt, Max Thompson, Isabella Thompson, Willa Petit and Ava Roberts.
A celebration of her life will be conducted Friday at Noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Thursday and from 10-12 on Friday at the funeral home.
