She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George J. Lynch, her son Greg and his wife Susan, and her daughter Alicia Stevens and her husband Jason.
Linda was affectionately known as 'Grammy' to the grandchildren she adored Emma Stevens, James Stevens and Cara Lynch.
Close family friend and bonus daughter Robynne Gardner-Middleton and her husband Tony were considered honorary family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen Nelson Barcaskey (Redmond) and Gus Nelson.
Linda grew up on Neville Island in Pittsburgh and was a graduate of Neville High School. She and George moved to Louisville in 1966 where they raised their two children and entertained many card playing and Kentucky Derby parties.
Linda will be remembered for her unconditional love and kindness. A friend to everyone, Linda loved a good conversation and had a smile and laugh that brought cheer to every occasion. Her ability to make Christmas magical for all her family was infectious with games and contests she created to bring everyone together.
Linda loved reading, collecting snowmen and she tried her hand at numerous crafts over the years - knitting, cross-stitch and coloring books among them. Her legendary homemade chocolate chip cookies were considered a treasure.
As a lover of cats, we ask that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be directed to one of Linda's favorite charities, Alley Cat Allies at www.alleycat.org.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 28, 2022 beginning at 11AM and concluding at 2PM. Visitation will take place at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218.
