Thomas Livingston Vaughn DuBose and Martha Louisa Burnley DuBose on October 5,
1927 in Albany, New York. Lisa returned to her Southern roots, moving with her family
to Nashville, Tennessee, where as the granddaughter of Bishop Horace Mellard
DuBose, Lisa grew up in the Southern Methodist Episcopal Church in Nashville. After
marriage to Walter LeVert Smithson, she lived her young adult years in the San
Francisco Bay area before returning to Nashville in 1962.
In 1970, Lisa married Robert Hargesheimer, and moved to her adoptive home of
Louisville, Kentucky. Lisa and Robert were the owners of Holiday RV until their
retirement in 1992. Upon retirement, Lisa and Robert became “snow birds” spending
their winters in Okeechobee, Florida, boating, fishing and just enjoying their retirement
with other “snow birds” who became beloved and dear friends. Lisa loved her dogs,
antiques, and politics and seldom failed to express her opinion with her often sarcastic
wit. Lisa enjoyed family gatherings, keeping up with the activities of, and especially the
company of, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who
greatly enriched her later years.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Thomas Livingston Vaughn
DuBose, Jr., sister-in-law, Katherine “Kay” Carter DuBose, her mother and father in law,
Edward and Elise Hargesheimer, brother-in-law, Edward Hargesheimer, and sister-inlaw,
Helen Bishop.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Robert Hargesheimer, her two daughters, Glenda
Smithson Smith (Art) and Connie Hargesheimer Hash (Dennis), her seven
grandchildren, Robert L.V. Smith (Tonya), Amanda L. Jacobs (Gene), S. Matthew Smith
(Charlotte), Terri Cottner (Troy), Kim Hash, Jeramie Holt and Leon Holt; eleven greatgrandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and brother-in-law, Wayne
Hargesheimer.
Funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Evergreen Funeral
Home, 4623 Preston Hwy., Louisville, KY with visitation prior to the funeral
service from 10 AM to noon.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hosparus for all of their help
and kind care during Lisa’s final days and requests that expressions of sympathy be
made in Lisa’s memory to Hosparus of Louisville.
