Imagine a little blonde headed girl who walked bare footed in a dew laden grassy yard filled with dandelions. This same little girl walked through the muddy and sloppy chicken yard, only to need walking back through the grass to clean her feet once again before going inside the house. Some of her favorite dresses were flowery patterns made from chicken feed sacks. She always smiled and seemed content playing tag or whatever crazy games we came up with in Road Fork, KY. Kathy was preceded in death by our parents Gleamer and Ruth Ledford Helvey and survived by four sibling; Bob (Marilyn), Joe (Marites), Brenda (Roy), and Randy (Audra). Timothy, Thomas and David (Amanda) are her three sons. Her husband Ronal Dale Cole passed eight years ago. Parker and Bella are her grandchildren who called her Memaw and kept her laughing until near the end. Nieces and nephews are too many to count and cousins galore connected to the Ledford Family Reunion Facebook page. Kathy graduated from Manual High School and worked at Krogers for several years managing the bakery. Later she was in charge of the kitchen at Ninth & O Baptist where she was a member. She served breakfast and lunch to school children daily and on Wednesday night for midweek prayer meeting and suppers. At one time Kathy had eight cats and a couple dogs. Pets were always welcome. One of her special pets was King after we moved to Louisville. They had a special bond and could somehow communicate with each other. If anyone in the family misplaced something she always found it. That was her special gift. We remember that she was lost and then was found as we are reminded when singing Amazing Grace. God be with you until we meet again Kathy. -By Bob Helvey
