

Louis "Rick" Frederick Breit Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2026, at the age of 79. Rick was born to the late Louis F. Breit Sr. and Ruth Brightman on January 26th, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky.
A devoted partner, Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Paulette Gude Breit. Their legacy includes a daughter, Shannon (Jimmy) Mitchell, a son, Jason (Christy) Breit and three cherished grandchildren, Henry, Lucy, and Jacob Breit, who will continue to carry his spirit in their hearts. Rick was a brother to Marquita, Lisa Ann, and Kim Breit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Breit.
An alumnus of Flaget High School, Rick's thirst for knowledge led him to Bellarmine University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting. His professional life was marked by his dedicated military service, having served honorably as a proud U.S. Army veteran in the 100th Division and subsequently in the army reserves.
Rick's Christian faith was a guiding force in his life. Raised as a devout Catholic, he devoted many hours volunteering alongside his father at St. Anthony's, embodying the teachings of his faith through service.
Through the stillness of fishing and the solace of time spent on the lake, Rick found endless joy and tranquility. These moments of reflection were complemented by his inherent love for his community and the generosity of spirit he extended to family, friends, and those in need.
Rick's memory will be honored by the countless lives he touched. His example as a steady hand and a comforting presence will live on through the actions and character of his loved ones.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Arch L. Heady & Son – Westport Village Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40222.
A funeral mass will occur on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, beginning at 10:00am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Rd, Louisville, KY 40207.
Burial will follow the funeral mass at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40241.
