She was born on December 10, 1932 in Lancing, Tennessee. Louise moved to live, work, marry and raise her family in Louisville when she was a young woman.
After her marriage to Al on September 18, 1957 the two became much loved regulars at Churchill Downs. They attended the Kentucky Derby for 52 consecutive years. The high point of their ownership of Thoroughbred horses was when their horse “Mythical Ruler” ran in the 1981 Kentucky Derby. Their love of horses was apparent in every aspect of their lives.
In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Goodman and Maude Carroll Goodman; brothers, Franklin Goodman Jr., and Alvin Goodman; sisters, Bertha Swint, Mary Ruth Hickle, Eva Jones, Charity Lowe, Pauline Lucado, Susie Norman, and Jo Ann Campbell.
She is survived by her twin sons, Scott and Brett Risen; a sister, Ara Mae Davis of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Aunt Lou as she was affectionately known by many in the family was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She professed her faith in Christ and made it known that she knew she would re-unite with those gone before her in Heaven. She was known for her mischievous grin, sense of humor, and her laughter. We will miss visiting and talking to her about life, travel, her love of Irish music and her heritage.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at the Kentucky Heritage Pavilion inside Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12-2 on Saturday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road.
