Margaret “Tootie” Cooper Hammond, 88, of Louisville, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital. She was born on July 9, 1923 to the late Malachi W. Cooper and Mary J. Whithers. She was a member of Fern Creek Baptist Church and retired from Local 761 IUE.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by twelve siblings and by her husbands, Richard Stewart and Lester Allen Hammond.
She is survived by her children, Vivian (Charles) McAdams, John Andrew (Glenda) Stewart and David (Liane) Stewart; two grandchildren, Charles Brian (Angie Elleman) McAdams and Jeff McAdams; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Davidson McAdams.
A celebration of her life will be conducted Thursday March 15, 2012 at 10:00 am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to American Cancer Society.
