Marie Emge Farris

She was a wonderful mother, daughter, niece, and friend and a devoted and strong supporter of her family. She was also a terrific cook, seamstress, and flower arranger. Her holiday dinner tables were always picture-worthy.

Marie was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church and a current member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a long time member of South Park Country Club where her family and friends gathered for wonderful picnics by the lake, enjoying the fireworks every Fourth of July. She also was a former member of Hurstbourne Country Club.

Marie retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education.

She is sadly missed by her daughter, Cheryl Farris, and her husband, Bob Coomes, of Louisville and her son, James (Butch) Farris, and his wife, Robin, of Marion, Illinois.

Marie was a proud “Grandmommy” to Clay Cooksey and Grant Cooksey (Jennifer Edwards), Lindsey Farris Slaughter (Josh), Ryan Farris (Audrey), and Megan Farris. She was a thrilled great-grandmother to Ella Edwards Cooksey, Ava and David Slaughter, and Cora Farris.

The family wishes to thank Hosparus of Louisville and the caring and compassionate caregivers at the Episcopal Church Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Marie may be made to, Trinity Presbyterian Church, 10200 Shelbyville Road 40223 or to Hosparus of Louisville.

Visitation will be from 10-12 on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. 40218, followed by a private service for the family. Ms. Farris will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
