

Born March 22, 1934, Marilyn was one of five children of Maury W. and Viola (Borders) Wright. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Florence Shoemaker, her brother Donald Wright, her twin sister Carolyn Shreve and her son Barry T. Ellis. Marilyn is survived by her brother James M. Wright
Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Stephen C. Ellis (Karen), Nina L. Carpenter (Scott) and Angela D. Smith, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn attended The University of Louisville where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She was a teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools and retired from Boone County Schools. She was an honorary Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and volunteered with Habitat For Humanity and the Lions Club.
Marilyn was extremely devoted to her family. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook and baker and had a talent for gardening. Marilyn led a very active life and was always generous with her time in helping others.
A service to honor the life of Marilyn will be held Tuesday, August 10th at 12pm in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, August 9th from 2 – 8pm at the funeral home.
