Marilyn H Werenskjold

Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Leanna Higgason and her son Gary Jr. She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, CAPT Gary Werenskjold, USN (ret,) and her children; Eric (Lisa Ann) of Glasgow, KY, Craig (Lisa Michelle) of Niceville, FL, Jon of Prospect, KY, and Karl (Melissa) of Denver, CO, her sister, Suzanne Waldrop of Glasgow, KY, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, compassionate mother, cherished teacher, and an excellent gardener. Born and raised in Greensburg, KY located on the banks of the Green river, she began her education at New Salem, a one room schoolhouse, and graduated from Greensburg High School. She attended Western Kentucky State College and graduated with a BA in Business Education and a Masters at Memphis State. Her lifelong love of teaching spanned dozens of military moves with her family, teaching at Green County HS, KY, Bolton HS, TN, St. Augustine HS, New Orleans, LA, and the Kentucky School for the Blind Louisville, KY, of which she was particularly fond.

One of her favorite Bible quotes is from Colossians 3:12-14: “Compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, Love binds them together.”

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday January 6, 2023 at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 6500 Bernadette Ave, Prospect KY 40059. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday January 5, 2023 at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road.
