"Del" was one of my mentors at the University Of Louisville when we were both staffers at the school's Television studios. I could listen for hours to his recollections of the early years of TV, when he worked at NBC and DuMont. Yet, he stayed current with the best of us! Juile, I was very saddened to hear of your dad's passing.  He was a kind and friendly man who always welcomed your friends into his house.  I have so many memories of sitting in your living room laughing and listening to the great stories he and your mom would tell.  And of course, I'll never forget the "recording sessions" with Johnnie and me, and having the rest of the gang there to listen and have fun.  Your dad was an intriguing man with many interests; do you remember the day he flew us around Long Island in his plane? What a blast and a cherished memory.

I never had the honor of meeting Mr.Blunk but can only imagine the caring person he must have been to raise a daughter as thoughtful and caring as his daughter Julie, whom I employ. Julie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Julie, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.  I loved spending time at the Blunk house on Longfellow Avenue as a kid.  Your parents were always so welcoming and made everyone feel like they were part of the family.  I'll always remember the scent of your dad's pipe and your mom sitting in her “spot” or playing the organ and the deep love they had for each other.  We had a lot of laughs at your house and I am grateful for those memories.  With heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

Oh Julie, I am so very sorry to hear about your dad.  I have so many fond memories of times spend at your house as a kid.  Mostly your father taking the time to record Ronnie and John singing all those songs.  Your parents were always so welcoming to us hanging out on the couch with them.  He had quite the sense of humor and I'll never forget those eyebrows...lol.  My deepest condolensces.

Linda, Chris & Julie,   How I loved Uncle Fidelis & Aunt Jean.  The memories I have of him are some of the fondest from my childhood. He became the father figure I longed to have.  My heart is heavy but I know he is with his beautiful Jean Rigo Blunk.  His sense of humor, kindness, & love for his family are unsurpassed. I adored him.   Sending love & hugs to you, my cousins.

You and your family are in our prayers.  Fidelis was my uncle (I am Joe Chester's daughter, William Chester's grandaughter).  The last time I saw Fidelis I was very very young and he and Jean were in Louisville, visiting from NY.  .  You were probably a twinkle in his eye!!  Jean played the piano for us I think it was "Easter Parade" and sang ....and I remember your Dad always having that pipe in his hand and always smiling!! He would sit in a comfy chair and just take it all in.  I remember Aunt Abbie called him Son and was so proud of him.  Suzi Chester Slye Elasik

I was so sad to get word that we had lost Fidelis. I had hoped to get to Florida and visit him sometime soon . I loved hearing the stories he and my mom and aunts recalled about their younger days. I have had the pleasure of taking care of Mr. Blunk in my small ALF since 2006. He is the easiest going person one would ever want to meet. I always joked saying, "if I could have 6 Mr. Blunks my job would be easy!" I have established many fond memories that I will cherish forever. Sorry for your loss but if there is anything I can do please don't hesitate to let me know!!!

I am so sorry about Mr. Blunk's death. My prayers are with his family.

I am so very sorry to hear of Papa Del's passing. Although we did not spend a lot of time together, the few memories that I have of him are of a great Grandfather who was a pleasure to be with. I am happy that I was able to see him several years ago, and also was able to have some last words with him very recently. I know he is now up in Heaven with Grandma Jean, and is happy and healthy up there among the clouds. We will truly miss you Papa Del.

My deepest condolences to the Blunk family. It will always be my honor to have known Del. He was always kind and loving. His witt and charm were always present. There will be a void that can not be replaced yet a joy to have been close to him. I will miss his great smile but know that his spirit is always with us.
