Dear Bill and Martin,  I was very sad to hear of Lynne's passing.  She was such a dear friend to me and all the Freemans and I know you both will miss her terribly. I can't think of a special occasion or family gathering during my teenage and young adult years that you and Lynne weren't a part of.  She was a true force of nature. I know God has a special place for her.  And, knowing Lynne, she has lots of questions for Him. I will keep you both in my prayers. All my love--

Bill and Martin:  I was so sorry to learn of Lynne’s passing.  Although I had not been in touch in recent years, Lynne held a special place in my heart.  As a 10 year old who lived next door, Lynne was the “cool mom” who would invite me over during one of those long summer days to help her out with some chores (like cleaning her crystal). She would always slip me money on the way out no matter how many long stem glasses I broke.   We would talk about everything under the sun from her dog “Zero”‘s  latest stunt to just how to handle that bully on the bus. I didn’t know it then, but those days would stay with me forever.  Over the years she shared her kindness and compassion with me on many occasions.  When my parents passed away, she made it a point to stay in touch.  She always made it clear that she and Bill were there for anything I might need.  She shared endless stories about her life with me and it was always clear that her husband and son (and later her grandchildren) were her proudest achievements in life.  Many of her stories would revolve around you all. It was evident how proud she was and how much all of you enriched her life.  Lynne could also be “a stubborn broad”.  Remember that as you move through this time of grief.  She would give you the “what for” if you linger too long in sorrow over her passing.  I for one will always think of her with a smile and am so grateful that I got a chance to know her. She gave me the gift of laughter and taught me many life lessons over the years.  I have no doubt that she is with God now and the many family, friends and Basset Hounds that went before her.  She is having  “The Derby Party to End All Derby Parties” as we speak! In addition to riding the school bus together, I lived fairly near to them and would occasionally visit with them on my bicycle at their home on Sheridan Rd.
