Martha Jean McGill

Martha Jean McGill, 92 of Louisville entered into eternal peace on December 24, 2017. Born March 9, 1925 to William Leon & Margaret Epperson. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Edmund McGill Jr., sister, Patricia Draut, parents, and step-mother Ruth Myer Epperson. She was a 1943 graduate of Shawnee High School. Jean worked as a secretary at Mutual Benefits Life Insurance and 1st National Bank.

Jean was devoted to her family and church. Her lifelong involvement with church was first being baptized at Calvary Baptist Church at 18th and Prentice in Louisville. She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school at West Louisville Evangelical & Reform as a young woman. She attended church at St. Andrew and Immanuel United Church of Christ. She served on numerous committees.

Jean is survived by her sons, David (Linda), Stephen (Teresa) and Michael (fiancée, Amy Higgins.) Grandsons: Adam McGill, Jacob McGill and Josh (Melodie) Lawson. Great grandchildren: Zachary and Ariana Lawson, cousin, Lucille Leaf, nephews; Andy, Ken and Doug Draut, Matthew Bielefeld and niece, Becky Hutchens.

A funeral service to celebrate Jean’s life will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
