Martha Cordelia Murphy, 87, of Louisville, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012. She was retired from General Electric and was a long time member of St Athanasius Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Murphy, parents George W and Mary Newton; brothers , Bill, Joe, Jim, Pat, Frank, and Lawrence; sisters, Jeanette Wade, Trease Frazier, and Margie Burton.She is survived by 3 sisters Eula Clerici, Thelma Hardin, and Ann Hardin; 4 generations including 5 daughters Janice Brown, Ona Kilner (Fred), Barbara Lanham (Wade), Rita Gipe, and Susan Mattingly; 3 sons Danny Murphy (Jennifer), Allan Murphy , and Edward Murphy (Robin); 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A Funeral Service Mass honoring the life of Mrs. Murphy will be held at 10:00 am on Monday December 24th, 2012 at St. Athanasius Catholic with Entombment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 23, 2012 from 2-8pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Hwy. Expressions of sympathy in honor of Mrs. Murphy may be made out to St. Athanasius Catholic Church.
