Martha "Molly" Ann Shipp

84, went home to meet her Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Molly was born July 26, 1928. She attended the University of Louisville where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed golfing and was a former member of Big Spring Country Club and the LPGA. Molly loved the game of bridge and was a member of the Louisville Bridge Association. She was a fervent sideline cheerleader for the Louisville Cardinal basketball team. God blessed her with a beautiful voice and a talent for playing the piano. She treasured playing the piano for her sisters in Christ in the Pioneer Sunday School Class at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Molly was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Molly fought a brave battle with an ongoing disease in her final years and showed great courage and fortitude as God faithfully helped her through it. She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Shipp, Jr., her sister, Nancy Haydon, and her brother, John L. Peterson, Jr..

Molly has entered her Heavenly Father’s presence before her children, Mark Shipp (Jenny), Leslie Miller, Claudia Austin (Robert), Douglas Shipp (Cindy), Eric Shipp (Mary); her grandchildren, Mark, Melissa, Ilena, Ines, Cory, Krissy, Ben, Jon, Emily, Allison, Andrew, Evan, MacKenzie, Tyler, and Ashley; and 12 great-grandchildren. Molly is also survived by her dear friend and long-time caregiver Barbara Eilers and her beloved cat, Babe.

Visitation will be held 2-8 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. and after 10 am Friday, November 2, 2012 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 7709 Bardstown Road, Fern Creek, KY 40291, (502) 239-2129. A celebration of Molly's life will begin at 12 noon, Friday, at the church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
