Mary Ellen Rahm

Mary Ellen received her B.A. from Ursuline College, her Masters of Ed from University of Louisville, was a primary and substitute teacher for the Jefferson County Board of Education, an owner; operator J.H. Brockamp Advt, an office manager for Janet McIntyre DMD, a statistical clerk with the U.S. Census Bureau, a part-time owner and outside sales rep for Travel Professional International. She was a member of Meadows Height Woman's Club and Ascension Catholic Church, Ascension PTA, a teacher of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, a Brownie and JR. leader for the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, active with the Boy Scouts, Old Kentucky Home counsel, coach for the Upper Highlands Swim Club, a leader with the parent group 12 Step Program, an aerobic teacher and walking program for the senior citizens. She was a volunteer usher for the Kentucky Center for the Arts, a fundraiser for Booklawn, a substance treatment center for teens. She was past-president and member of the AAUW and many other state and branch divisions, She was a Queen's Daughters member and a Kentuckiana swim official.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Christopher Rahm; and her brother, John McDermott.

Mary Ellen is survived her husband, Herbert William Rahm Jr.; children, Evala Bailey, Herbert Rahm III (Marylyn), John Rahm (Deborah) and Edward Rahm (Jane); grandchildren, Kendrick and Dakota Bailey, Megan, Christine, Eli, Olivia and William Rahm; and sisters-in-law, Carole Rahm and Elaine Rahm.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday December 29, 2011 at the Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Dr. Louisville, KY 40220. (502) 451- 3860, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Road.
