Mary Jo Schraffenberger

She was born on January 30, 1940 in Tipp City, Ohio to the late Paul and Mary Bernadette (Carrico) O’Bryan. Mary Jo was married to the late Donald Wallace Schraffenberger in Louisville, KY on July 29, 1978.

Mary Jo is a member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church. She attended Presentation Academy and graduated from the University of Louisville. At the Courier Journal & Louisville Time she was and Executive Assistant to General Manager, Sales Representative, and an Account Executive-Display Advertising. Later she joined WAVE-TV where she retired as Program Administrator.

Mary Jo was avidly Pro-Life and active in the Pro-Life movement. She loved music and was an active member of the Choral Club, Carousels, Louisville Chorus and Beargrass Christian Choir.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Joseph Paul O’Bryan, James Vincent O’Bryan, William Marshall O’Bryan, Robert Mensa O’Bryan, George Earl O’Bryan, Charles Edward O’Bryan, and Patrick Michael O’Bryan.

She is survived by two brothers, Thomas (Susie) O’Bryan and Richard (Janice) O’Bryan, both of Louisville; and two sisters, Theresa Foppiano of Louisville, and sister Mary Celeste “Margie” O’Bryan of Buffalo, New York; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane O’Bryan of Louisville; two step-daughters, Donna Richards and Linda Rudd both of Louisville; three step-grandchildren, Linet Weston (Stephen) of Louisville, and Michelle Peters (Anthony) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Carole Purvis (Caleb) of Louisville; and four step-great-grandchildren, Anthony Peters Jr. and Samantha Peters of Charlotte; Arilyn Purvis and Lina Weston of Louisville.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40222 with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218.
