Mary Shannon Ryan Saylor

Mary watched, raised over 100 children in her modest home. Up at 5 am to have a spotless house, to have children mess it up every day. Not once in my lifetime did I hear her complain about the children messing up her spotless home. She watched each child from infant to young adult as if they were her own Grandchildren. She had a way with children that we as parents still can't explain. Through LOVE she managed to mold every single child into a responsible caring, loving, young adult. She thought of each child as her angels. We as adults knew Mary was an ANGEL. God blessed all of the parents by her having a large part of molding our children with her values of Love and Respect.

Mary lived her whole life making others laugh and smile. She could stretch a dollar into two and yet give 50 cents of the dollar away to someone she felt needed it more than herself. She lived each day looking forward to the next Holiday for the children. Our favorites were Christmas, St Patrick's Day and Halloween, were she always dressed up and would try to surprise the children and parents. Sewing was another trait every child got to enjoy. Whether making a Halloween costume or making a beautiful Easter Dress, she could do it all. She also taught the parents and children the importance of organization and recycling. She was Way ahead of her time on this. She had a container, a spot, and use for every disposable item imaginable. The only problem we had as parents was getting our children to leave at the end of the day. The children always wanted to stay longer or spend the night with MaMa.

Her final act of giving was donating her body for science to The University of Louisville. Though having her complete arrangements made and paid for years in advance, she still wanted give of herself one more time. Mary will be missed but never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Saylor; son Danny W. Saylor.

Survivors include her children Marvin P. Baldwin (Harriet), Barbara M.”Bobbi” . Priddy (Randy), Teresa L. “Terri” Grubbs; grandchildren Carrie L. Baldwin, Bradley W. Priddy, Brian D. Priddy, and Jonathan D. Grubbs; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Nancie E. Farmer

Her memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Okolona. Burial will be private. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday.
