

Melvin L. Dukes, 90, of Louisville passed away on December 11, 2015 at the Eastern Star Home. He was born on July 7, 1925 in Greenville, Kentucky. Melvin proudly served his country serving in the United States Marine Corps on Iwo Jima during WWII. He also served in the Korean War. Melvin was Past Master of the Sunset Masonic Lodge #915, a member of the Scottish Rite and Kosair Shrine. Melvin was a Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Queen Esther #1. He was State Dad for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. Melvin retired from International Harvester (Navistar) after 40 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Dee and Alisa Dukes. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anne Payne Dukes; daughter, Melva Dukes; siblings, Harold Dukes (Barbara), Jane Denhem, Ruth Thacker, Joe Dukes (Barbara) and Ron Dukes (Vicki). A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road.
