She was born June 28, 1926 in Anneta, Kentucky, daughter of the late Stephen Willis and Sally Ann Decker Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leslie LeRoy Hackney and brothers and sisters.
Many knew her as Mrs. Love, she was a woman of faith, as well as the matriarch of her family. She will be remembered for being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. During WWII, Mildred supported the war effort by working at Reynolds Research. She was also formerly employed at Kentucky Industries for the Blind and Hadley Pottery
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Mildred Kaelin (George), Sally Shake (Kenny), Lillian Fawbush (Tom), Timothy Love and his partner Larry Ysunza; one brother, Stephen Hayes, Jr.; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 – 8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
