

Marshall, Mildred R., 77, entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family at home, on Sunday November 6, 2016. She was born on June 14, 1939 to her late parents, George and Alene Woods.
Mildred was a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church and graduated from Central High School, class of 1957. She was the first black woman to work at W.T. Grant Department Store, located on the corner of 4th & Chestnut Streets. She retired from General Electric Appliance Park after 35 years of service, where she also served as Shop Steward and was honored in 1996 for superior performance among manufacturing. Mildred was the founder and president of the Ladies of the 80's Social Club for the entirety of the club's existence. Mildred's passion was her family and being of service to others. She loved life and was always surrounded by her many friends.
Preceding her in death are her siblings, Virginia Debarlabon, Clark Vernon "CV" Woods, and Alyce Bynum.
She is survived by her sister, Juanita Roberts; daughter, Marva (Richard) Dockery; granddaughter, Donique "Dimples" (Marshall) Hobbs-Pence; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Hobbs; great-grandson, Dillon Hobbs; special friend, Sellis "Bear" Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1-8pm on Friday and funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home on Preston Highway.
