

She attended the University of Louisville and was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics. She was selected a member of Mortar Board, a society honoring scholarship, leadership and service to the University.
She was president of the Luther League of the old Kentucky-Tennessee Synod of the Lutheran Church in America. She organized a chapter of the Lutheran Students Association on the U of L campus.
Mrs Tullis served as President of the old Jefferson County Mental Health Association for three years and was a board member of the Kentucky Association for Mental Health.
As President of the Louisville Dietetic Association, she formed Dial-a-Dietitian, a service for the public, which continued for five years. She was on the Board of the Kentucky Dietetic Association for more than ten years, and was chairman of the legislative committee which achieved passage of the certification of dietitians and nutritionists in the Kentucky legislature. When licensure was achieved she served on the first Board of Licensure for Dietitians and Nutritionists by appointment of Governor Brereton Jones.
Mrs. Tullis volunteered in the office of two Kentucky Attorneys General in planning and coordinating two Health Fraud Conferences for health professionals across the state. She was a founding member of the not-profit Kentucky Council Against Health Fraud, which continues in existence. She was a five-year board member of the National Council Against Health Fraud. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
She was a committed member of Christ Church United Methodist and a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Tullis was preceded in death by her husband Ashar S. Tullis. She is survived by her sister Martha Willis(Charles) of Dayton, OH; beloved children, Marcia Benninger (Tom), Mark Petry; Ashar's beloved children, Judy Abar, William Tullis (Pam), and Terry Walker (Cliff ) of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren Ethan (Renzia), Suzanne, Wesley (Laura), and Sam Benninger, Golden and Ian Tullis, Jamie Simmons, James and Daniel Busby. Great grandchildren Chase Simmons, Lilian and Ashar Tullis, and Ellie Benninger; and a fun-loving extended family of niece, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, will be on Friday, July 26 from 3-7 p.m. Her funeral service will be at Christ Church United Methodist on July 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
