

Nancy Jo Walker, 70, entered into eternal life on March 14, 2026. She was lifted to the heavens on a wave of prayers from everyone that loved her. In the presence of family to comfort her and lend her strength, she was able to reunite with her father, Charles Thomas Walker, mother Elva Penland Walker and sister Terri Lynne Walker. While her journey with illness was long and at times arduous, her never-ending hope, strength, and positive outlook filled all with awe and inspiration. Nancy loved life and was a warrior to the end. Nancy made a meaningful impact on the lives of those around her and was dedicated to enriching the lives of others.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy is survived by her brother Tom Walker (Mary), sister’s Donna Hughes (Steve), Jo Ann Byrd (David), Jamie Keeling (David); and her partner of 40 years Bernie Fritz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
A Louisville native, Nancy’s favorite childhood memories were spending quality time with her siblings, cousins and dear friends. She adored her nieces and nephews, loved spending the holidays with family, especially at Christmas, where she lovingly bestowed gifts onto others, truly embracing and embodying the magic of the season. She loved traveling, especially to the beaches of sunny Florida. Nancy graduated from Sullivan Business College and her professional career spanned nearly five decades, including working at Caretenders Home Health, where she retired after building many life-long friendships.
She will be profoundly missed by friends, family, colleagues and all who knew her. Her legacy endures through the love and kindness she extended to others.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, March 20th at 11:00am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40299. Nancy will be inurned at Resthaven Cemetery privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hosparus of Louisville.
