Norma Jean Hayes Sturgeon

Mrs. Sturgeon graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1959. She was also a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and the 3M Club.

Norma worked for the Jefferson County Board of Education as a teaching assistant. She loved children and enjoyed helping them in any way she could. She retired from the Board of Education in 1982.

Norma enjoyed collecting Star of David glassware and Jim Shore figurines. She also loved to shop, lunching with the girls and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sturgeon; parents, Clyde and Mallie Hayes; siblings, Jim, Joe, Clyde, Dorothy, Raphael, Nelda and Agnes.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie Wooldridge (Alan), Sandra Axman (Doug) and Billie Sturgeon Jr.; grandchildren, Andy Wooldridge (Amanda), Alicia Kron (Ronnie), and Tyler Axman (Kelly), Casey Axman (Anna Kate) and Ashley Sturgeon; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jaden Wooldridge, Dayton, Bryce and Kannon Kron and Harper and Hudson Axman; siblings, Rick Hayes, Mary Pollei, Fran Johnson and Marcy Friend.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be at the church after 10:00 am Saturday until the time of the service.

The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to the American Heart Association.
