O.D. "Dee" Beaty Jr.

O.D. “Dee” Beaty, Jr. age 83, of Albany, KY died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Medical Center –Albany. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oswald Denton Beaty Sr. and Sue Taylor Beaty; his first wife of 27 years, Doris Guffey Beaty; and 4 siblings, Edsel Beaty, June Beaty Watson, Bennis Beaty and Jack Beaty.

Dee served in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Louisville, KY where he was a barber for 50 years. He owned Dee’s Preston Highway Barber Shop until his retirement in 2004. He was a square dance caller for the Dee-Lightful Dancers Square Dance club in Louisville, KY.

His survivors include, his wife of 28 years, Lillian Dickerson Beaty; children, Jo (Bruce Heiman) Beaty, Doug (Vickie) Beaty, Alan (Denise) Beaty, and Sonya (Chad) Dumas; 8 grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Martha Sue (Hughel) Phillips, Jimmie (John) Williams, Lala (Walton) Haddix, and Joan (Danny) Groce.

The first visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. CST Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Talbott Funeral Home, 1106 N. Cross St., Albany, KY 42602. The service will take place at 11 a.m. CST Friday, at Talbott Funeral Home. A visitation in Louisville will take place Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 10-2 p.m. EST at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road. A private interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Park.
