Orsemus Durward "O.D." Bitely III

Born to the late Orsemus Durward Bitely II and Barbara Jean Bitely, O.D. is also preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Kelly Bitely, his son, Perry Menzo Bitely, and his stepson, Edward Todd Bell.

Here to carry on his memory is his adoring wife of 27 years, Sherry Bitely; his children Amy Bitely, Stephanie Jackson, Phillip Bitely (Katie), Melanie Bitely, Alaina Schrodt (Daniel), Chuck Sayles (Marianela) and Eyde Clark; his grandchildren Nevaeh, Riley, Harley, Savanna, Colton, Caroline, Avery, Jadon, Eli, Madison, and Kendall; his siblings Karen Dunn (Mark), Susan Bitely, and Sheryl Bitely; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His joyous presence and boisterous laugh were a constant source of light and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man of many interests. He loved hiking, planting trees, restoring cast iron cookware, and muscle cars. But he was the best at enjoying the simple joys of everyday life, coffee in bed, playing with his grandchildren and dogs, and fishing with his son. He was always so good at living in the present. To know him was to love him. He loved everyone and cherished his time with family and friends above all else. We will miss him and hold him in our hearts forever, and cling to our treasured memories of him.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218. A funeral service in O.D.'s honor will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
