She was born to the late Reverend Lawrence Phelps and Velma Tomes Phelps in Butler County, KY on March 29, 1937. Ovanna was a long time employee for Peter and Lorillard Tobacco Company.
She is preceaced in death by her husband, John J. Hardy; granddaughter, Katherine Hardy and siblings, Glendon, Vendon, and Jerry Phelps, Cora Sue Steff, Laymon Ray Phelps and Veda Salling.
Here to carry on her memory are her children, Steve Hardy (Donna), Kathy Hardy, Melinda Daugherty (Larry) and Kevin Hardy (Helen); 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and her siblings, Ann Penner (Earl), Gaye McCoy (Eddie) and Una Maye Kennedy.
Visitation will be Monday, June 5th from 2-8pm and Tuesday, June 6th from 12-2pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. The service will take place Tuesday at 2pm, with the burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
