Polly committed her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Louisville, where she received her First Holy Communion and attended school. Later, Polly joined Christ the King Catholic Church where she became a faithful member for over 50 years. During her time at Christ the King, she served on many different committees with the Service Club and as a Eucharistic Minister, just to name a couple.
Polly worked primarily as a homemaker while also caring for the Ballard family for over 60 years. She was a second mother to Donna, Bill, Julie and Mark where she spent many valuable years with them. She retired at the age of 80.
Polly was united in Holy Matrimony with William “Billy” Howard for 55 years when he preceded her in death, and to this union, they raised their daughter, Michelle Howard. Polly adored Michelle and cherished her only grandchild, Logan Howard. Polly was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
She was a member of varying groups, clubs, and associations throughout her lifetime and developed lifelong friendships. Polly was a founding member of both the Patrick 8 Club and the Chick Club. She loved to entertain her family and friends in her home, as well as the many dances her Clubs would host. She was an avid Pokeno Player, often hosting Pokeno Parties. She would light up the room with her infectious smile. Her charismatic personality and fun spirit made her truly the life of every party.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Polly. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her door was always open with many family members staying with her as she acted as a surrogate mother to many.
She enjoyed cooking and baking cakes for loved ones. She was also a gifted seamstress who could make anything with her hands. She loved sports and cheered for both the Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats and would sometimes be found wearing items of both at the same time (despite her families opposition). She was also a lover of music, who loved to sing and dance. She would spend hours recording music and making mixed tapes of her favorite songs. Her favorite musicians were Prince, Johnny Mathis, Tom Jones and Usher.
On Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, Polly, the Matriarch of the Beeler Family, departed this life at the age of 99, at the home of her daughter, Michelle. In her home, Michelle lovingly cared for her for the last 9 years. She was called home to be with the Lord and joined her Mother, Father, Husband, Brothers John Beeler, Arthur L. Beeler, Sr and William A. Beeler, Jr., and Sisters Essie M. Lloyd, and Mary Virginia Walker.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Polly’s spirit is carried on by her daughter Michelle Howard; granddaughter, Logan Howard; Sister-In-Law, Mary Beeler; brothers, Kenneth and Austin Beeler; sister, Bella Beeler and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
