She is survived by her children Don (Terri), David (Janette), Jean Woody (Jim) and Rob (Martha).
Peggy is also survived by her six grandchildren; Laura, Angela, Melanie, Heather, Allison and Wesley. Her nine great-grandchildren; Julia, Charlie, Lily, Finn, Rachel, Ryan, Levi, Nolan, and Evan, and her brother Gerald Lee Silliman.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Frances Silliman, her first grandchild Adam, her brothers Edgar Jr., Leroy, Alvin, Russell, and her sister Betty Jean Koch, as well as her beloved dog Kingston.
Peggy was born in Louisville on January 20, 1933. She is a graduate of duPont Manual High School, Class of 1950 ½.
She married her love, Don King whom she met while playing softball for The Bloodhounds. Peggy loved playing sports, often saying that “she had a good arm” and carried a .500 batting average. She was an avid bowler winning many trophies and enjoyed following UL and UK sports teams.
Peggy had a beautiful singing voice and if she didn’t know the words, she would whistle like a songbird, a talent she shared with her father.
She was an excellent cook and a hard worker. With those strengths, she joined her sister Betty Jean at Luhr Elementary’s cafeteria before becoming the Manager at Emerson TAPP and later Westport TAPP, from where she retired.
Animals held a very special place in Peggy’s life. She had many dogs, a rabbit and also enjoyed feeding the wildlife in her yard.
Our Mother Peggy dearly loved spending time with her family and was always a joy to be around. We only hope that she is as proud of us as we are of her.
The family would like to thank Hosparus of Louisville and her team that cared for her with such kindness and respect.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hosparus of Louisville or to the Kentucky Humane Society.
