Phyllis J. Ellis

Phyllis Jean Ellis, 85, of Louisville, passed away on June 7, 2022. She was born in Richmond, Kentucky on November 22, 1936 to the late Phillip and Orena Royce. Phyllis was a music major at Midway College and gave piano lessons for many years. She worked in Human Resources and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky after over 25 years of service. She was an avid UK supporter and Neil Diamond fan. Phyllis will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and she will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Travis Ellis.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas “Butch” Ellis, Michael (Elaine) Ellis and Gwendolyn “Winkie” (Richard) Lippert; grandchildren, Jessica Kidwell, Lauren Stamper, Shea Ellis, Kian Ellis, Haley McCalla, Lucas Ellis and Samuel Ellis; great-grandchildren, Abigayle Stamper, Maecy Kidwell and Michael Kidwell; a brother, Thomas Royce and a sister, Beth Ashley.

The family welcomes guests to visit from 10:00am-1:00pm on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village (7410 Westport Road). A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will take place at 1:00pm with entombment to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phyllis’ honor to the American Cancer Society.
