He was a retired tool and die technician for Porcelain Metals Corp. and an Air Force veteran.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene E. Bird; his parents, Charles F. Bird and Mary Lee Duvall Bird; and a brother, Bobby Bird.
Survivors include his children, Richard C. Bird, Jr. (Beth), Debra Hodgkins (Tim), and David Bird; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jennie Bird; and a nephew, Steve Bird.
His funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, with visitation from 12:00 until the time of the funeral Sunday. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central with a committal service at 2:00 pm Tuesday.
