Richard A. Higgins Jr.

He was born August 10, 1949 in Louisville, the son of Richard A. and Marjorie Higgins, Sr. who preceded him in death.

Richard was a 1967 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He went on to graduate from University of Louisville and Bellarmine University. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He actively volunteered as a Docent for the Louisville Zoo, YMCA, U.S. Forest Service, Hospice and Veterans Administration. He was also a chess coach at Holy Angels Academy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Theresa Higgins; two sons, Richard A. Higgins, III and Shawn Higgins (Kimberly); two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Ashley; brothers and sisters, Patrick, John, Dennis and Timothy Higgins, Regina Higgins, Mary Jo Colwell and Mary Jude Duvall.

A mass to celebrate Richard’s life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 6500 St. Bernadette Ave. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd.
