Bob was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Gus and Margie Glass on September 7, 1942. Bob was a graduate of Southern High School in Louisville. During his sophomore year of high school, Bob met his future wife, Wilma. The two were married on July 14, 1961. Only a few months later Bob had joined the Air Force, and he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California for the next four years. While stationed at Castle, Bob began his military career driving tanker trucks to refuel the airplanes on base. He was later promoted to a dispatcher and was an Airman First Class.
During the four years living in Merced, Bob and Wilma welcomed their two children Gregory Marion and Kimberly Ann. In 1965, Bob was discharged from the Air Force and the family came home to Louisville, Kentucky.
Upon their return to Louisville, Bob began working for LG & E as a systems analysist. He worked for LG & E for 43 years, retiring from there in 1998 and again in 2007 after having been asked to comeback as a consultant.
Bob enjoyed a variety of hobbies and pastimes some of which were trains, airplanes, home improvement shows, building and creating things around the house, being an active member of Okolona Presbyterian Church and spending time with his family. Bob was a fan of both University of Louisville football and basketball. He also could be found as an attentive audience member at most band competitions, and dance recitals for his children, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter.
Of the many things in life that Bob enjoyed and took pleasure in, nothing brought him more pride and joy and happiness than his granddaughter Brittany and, most importantly, his great-granddaughter Hillary. Hillary and Bob shared a special bond and had a wonderful understanding of the other. The pride would just radiate off him anytime he was able to introduce Hillary to anyone and he was able to brag on her just a little bit. He was a proud Papaw!
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Gus and Margie Glass, his son, Greg Glass, and many grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, and aunts.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his loving wife Wilma (Green) of 62 years, brother, Ronald Glass, sister, Karen Glass, daughter, Kimberly Glass, granddaughter Brittany Burkhead (Michael), and great-granddaughter Hillary.
Bob’s family would like to give their sincere thanks to all that visited, cared for, and otherwise helped out in these last few months. You are so appreciated and loved and there are not enough words to convey our thanks.
