

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Bertha (Isaacs) Green. He is survived by his daughter, Alison Green of Chicago, IL and her mother, Erica Cates; his best friend and soul-mate of 25 years, Linda Smith; his “brother”, Bill Echstenkamper; plus numerous cousins and friends.
“Big Bob Green” graduated from Franklin County High School, Frankfort, KY, attended Western Kentucky University, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Economics. He served honorably with the U.S. Army, enjoyed a lengthy career with Allstate Insurance and at the time of his death, was an independent insurance agent at Independent Agents of Kentucky. He worked for many years helping to prepare Sunday brunch at 211 Clover Lane Restaurant, where he enjoyed making their special lemon-currant scones up until this year.
Bob was a skilled pilot who enjoyed flying throughout the Caribbean. He was an accomplished scuba diver and a member of the National Ski Patrol (volunteering at several area snow ski resorts). He was a long-time member of the Louisville Ski Club. He loved cooking and seeking out the best hot sauces wherever he traveled. He especially enjoyed playing the board game RISK with his Sunday night buddies.
Bob had a zest for life and adventure. He maintained a positive, caring and generous attitude throughout his lifetime.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of customary expressions, donations may be given to the American Red Cross or the Animal Care Society.
