Robert Lee Happel, 83, of Louisville passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011. He was a retired Department Head of Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, a past president of the Jefferson County Sportsman Club, and a member of the American Radio Relay League. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and is a graduate of the University of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Conrad Happel and Thelma J. Holiday.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanne Redmon Happel; a daughter, Sandy Chatelain (Jim); a son, Doug Happel; grandchildren, Justin Chatelain of Lexington, Kentucky and Amber Chatelain of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Jacque Silkey and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:00 on Thursday at the funeral home.
