Robert, son of the late William Evert and Velma Anis Houchin, was born March 16, 1947, in Brownsville, KY.
He retired from General Electric after nearly 42 years of service, where he served as benefits and payroll manager, and after retirement, he worked as a consultant with ARGI Financial Group. He loved U of L sports and was a season ticket holder for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William, and a sister, Janice.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Cindy Kersting Houchin; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Valerie; a daughter, Erin and fiance, Adam Lloyd; his pride and joy, two grandchildren, Alina and Miles; a sister-in-law, Joyce Mills; three brothers-in-law, Rob Kersting, David (Valerie) Kersting and Marvin (Becky) Kersting; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 12, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. with interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt Washington. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 3-8pm On Thursday, September 11, 2014 and after 9am the day of the funeral.
