Born on May 5, 1946, in Louisville, Bob was the son of John Martin Tobbe and Mary Helen (Flechler) Tobbe. He graduated from Fern Creek High School, class of 1964, and soon after proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country overseas. Upon returning home, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Louisville.
Bob built a long and successful career as a pump mechanic and salesman, and was known for his work ethic, integrity, and reliability. A devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church, he remained actively involved in his parish and committed to helping others, especially through volunteer work that supported the underserved. His generosity and sense of responsibility touched many lives.
Above all, Bob’s greatest pride and deepest joy came from his family, especially his six grandsons — Jackson, Ryan, Evan, Owen, Andrew, and Jaxon — who were the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was fishing, gardening, fixing his tractor, or traveling to National Parks. He had a special way of showing love — sometimes through quiet gestures, sometimes with a chuckle and a story, but always through presence. He was a man who showed up, who worked hard, who loved fiercely, and who left a legacy rooted in devotion, kindness, and strength.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Helen Tobbe.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Beverly Anne (Blandford) Tobbe; his sons, James Tobbe (Erin) and Kyle Tobbe (April); and his cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Ryan, Evan, Owen, Andrew, and Jaxon. He also leaves behind his siblings: Katie Foley (Wayne), Tony Tobbe (Connie), Alice Curnick (Charles), and Steve Tobbe (Pattie); along with many dear friends and extended family members who will carry his memory forward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Ellen Dr. Louisville, KY 40299. Bob will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
