Ron Acree had a long and pretty successful career in golf. He was a part of his high school Varsity Team, Waggener H.S. where he was a high school state champion in 1963 and was later inducted in the Waggener Hall of Fame. He attended Murray State University to play golf for them, there he was honored as an All American and later was inducted into the Murray State Hall of Fame. He had a short stint on the golf pro tour after college and then back to winning amateur tournaments for years. He was one of the few amateurs to win the Kentucky Open in 1967. He played on the smaller pro tours like the Nike tour and other mini tours in the Carolinas and Florida. He won more than a dozen senior mini tour events in South Carolina and Florida and competed on the retired.com tour. Throughout all of the years of travel and success he had his wife Sheila, who caddied, watched, rooted for, and supported him, loving the game and the man that played it so well.
He is survived by his wife Sheila, Daughter Lee Anne Johnson(Tony), Daughter Lisa Hardley(David), Son R.J. Acree(Gail), Grand Daughters Meryck and Rylee Hardley, and Sister Patti Acree.
