

He was a graduate of the class of 1959 from Southern High School. After graduation, he worked at GE and went to college at night. He married a fellow Southern grad, Carol Keeling in August of 1964. He and Carol were married 61 years and were blessed with two sons, Chip and Chad.
After working a number of jobs, he decided to attend college full time and they moved to Bowling Green where he earned his BS, MA and Rank I degrees. They came back to Louisville and he became a Special Education teacher at Valley High School for 26 years. In his last years at Valley, he taught and also helped in the administration.
He loved hunting and fishing and spent many hours in Waddy, KY, hunting on his friend, Ron Hart's property. For years he had a "Deer and Beer" celebration for his birthday with male attendees only and a good time was had by all. He also loved gardening, something he learned from his father, and had a huge garden for years growing all kinds of vegetables.
He was a member of Cross Roads Christian Church, an Army veteran, a Mason, a Kosair Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, Roscoe, Betsy Jones, Roy, Dorothy Age, John, Donnie, Joan Shelton, Michael and Hope Shuffler.
Survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Ronald, Jr. "Chip" (Ginger) and Chad; his grandchildren, McClaine, Monroe, Tucker, Brooks and Keaton; his sisters, Martha Longworth and Pam Nuzum; multiple nieces and nephews and his life long friends, Joe and Pat Briney.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location on the same date, beginning at 3:00PM.
