

Ronnie Ellis Weightman, 77, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, Reserve Deputy Sheriff and proud U.S. Marine. Ronnie lived a life marked by unwavering generosity, humor, and love. Born August 5, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Ronnie answered the call to serve his country when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in April 1966. After completing boot camp at Parris Island and engineer training at Camp Lejeune, he was stationed at the Marine Corps Supply Center in Barstow, California, before deploying to Vietnam. There, he served with Charlie Company, 11th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st Marine Division, from December 1967 to January 1969. During Operation Meade River, Ronnie was wounded by a mine blast and was listed as Missing in Action for 10 days-an experience that left a lasting mark on his life and those who loved him. For his bravery and dedication, he was awarded numerous military honors, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, among many others. After returning home, Ronnie built a successful civilian life as Sales Manager for the Import Division at Bargain Supply Company in Louisville. Known for his strong work ethic and bigger-than-life personality, he touched the lives of countless coworkers, customers, and friends. Ronnie never met a stranger. His infectious laugh, constant jokes, and kind heart made him unforgettable to everyone he encountered. He was the kind of person who gave without asking, loved without limits, and brought light to every room he entered. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Weightman, and their cherished fur baby, Bella; son David Dolleris, daughter-in-law Dina Dolleris, granddaughter Shelby Dolleris, and great-grandson Oaklynd Dolleris-Moore. He is also survived by his siblings Betty Decker and Bobby Weightman (Pattie); and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends, including the Joe Ogden family and Jeff Rand (Toni) plus many more. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Otis "Britt" Weightman, and siblings Fairy Moore, Dava Timberlake, Guy Small, Nancy Jordan, George Weightman, and Arthur Weightman. His legacy of courage, service, laughter, and boundless compassion will live on in every life he touched. A visitation and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, followed by military honors and a memorial service from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at: Arch L.
