Ruth L Hancock

Ruth Lashley Hancock, aged 94, passed away at home on May 26, 2025. Born on September 19, 1930 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, she was the sixth of fourteen children to Porter and Beulah (Lindsey) Lashley. Her life was marked by love, dedication, and a passion for the simple joys of life.

Ruth married her loving husband, William (Bill) Hancock 37 years ago. Together, they enjoyed spending each winter as "snowbirds" in Destin, Florida.

Ruth remained steadfast in her Catholic faith, drawing strength from her beliefs. Her passion for gardening reflected her rural upbringing, as she found endless delight in growing flowers. Ruth retired after decades of working at Yum Brands.

She leaves behind her husband, William (Bill) Hancock; daughters Angela Nett (Louis), Carolyn Richards, and stepson Gene Hancock (Beth); her grandchildren David Nett (Reed), Julie Luckett (Jamie), and Joseph Nett (Laura); seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sisters Betsy Schureck, Beulah Lashley, Mildred Maeser, and Martine Bean; many loved nieces and nephew; and fur companion Max.

The family would like to thank Hosparus Health for their loving care during her final days.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the St. Gabriel (5505 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40291). Entombment will be Thursday, June 5th, 2025 at 12:00PM at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations in Ruth's honor can be made to Samaritan’s Purse and Kentucky Humane Society.
