Ruth Hall Stratton, age 99, passed away peacefully on the nineteenth day of June 2024 at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY. She was one of seven children, born on October 12, 1924, in Clifty, KY to the late Monie and Harry Hall. Ruth attended the Clifty High School where she was crowned “Miss Todd County” and represented Todd County as the Todd County Tobacco Day Queen in Hopkinsville. Once out of school, Ruth married and started her life as a mother to Isabell and Jimmy Crafton, and eventually moved to Louisville to work for GE. Later in life, she was re-married to Gil Stratton and eventually retired from GE to become a stay-at-home mom just after their daughter, Jennifer was born. She had such a great love for children, she eventually returned to part time work in childcare. Ruth loved to laugh, she had a beautiful, kind spirit and anyone who knew her, loved her. She enjoyed being with her family, drinking white chocolate mochas, working crossword puzzles, watching her afternoon soap operas, police shows, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Isabell Rickert and Jennifer Rutherford (Alex), a granddaughter, Jordan Churchman (Dustin), 2 great grandchildren, Carter and Kentlee, a sister-in-law, Earlene Hall, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 am, with a service to celebrate Ruth’s life at 12:00 pm, followed by a short graveside service at 1:00 pm, Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville or the KY Humane Society. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the outstanding staff at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center.
