Ruth Esther Washington

Ruth Esther Washington, 98, of South Louisville was born on September 20, 1919 in Florida to the late Amos and Kathryn (Bechtel) Gerhard and passed from this life on Tuesday May 22, 2018. Mrs. Washington was a member of the Epiphany United Methodist Church and a former member of the old Oakdale United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold William Washington; a sister Anna Maryannis; and a brother Amos Gerhard, Jr. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ruth Williams; sons, James Washington (Charlene) and H. William Washington (Natalie); and grandchildren, Arren (Amanda), Will, Davin, Alyssa Washington, Alex (Elliot) Rouse, and Allison (Brent) Herman; and a great grandson, Calvin Washington. Funeral service for Mrs. Washington will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday May 30, 2018 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
